In our tests during our tests, the Shark IQ performed well on all surfaces and effectively cleaned pet hair. However, it had trouble with carpets that had high and low piles. It also had difficulty getting around certain areas, moving in a zig-zag pattern, before adhering to the walls of the room. Its navigation system could be improved, but overall the IQ performed well in terms of removing debris and was better than the ION robot in every aspect.

The IQ is compatible to the Shark mopping system. This makes it less necessary to replace bags. It's also quicker to charge and has a better suite of automation features compared to the Roomba j7+ model from iRobot. The IQ also has an intelligent navigation system along with boundary makers, as well as a smart-pathing system.

It has separate vacuuming and mopping modules that you can swap out easily, and mopping pads are moveable rather than static cloths. It also comes with a docking station that automatically cleans and dry mopping pads, which should help to keep the water from accumulating throughout your home. It can also transition from hard flooring to area rugs or other surfaces, and utilizes lidar SLAM technology in order to create an interactive 3-D map of your home.

In terms of vacuuming power, it has an impressive 12,000 Pa of suction. It can capture large debris like pebbles and crumbs with ease. It also cleans stairs, corners and baseboards with a rotating tool that can be adjusted in the height. It also comes with an exclusive app that lets you create multiple maps, making it easy to clean various areas of your home.


It is great in removing small particles, but struggles with larger ones. It is also not great in removing debris from tight spaces, and it has a small internal dustbin which can be difficult to empty. Despite these limitations however, it's an excellent choice for those who want a fully automated robot that can sweep and mop their floors.

Another excellent feature of this robot is that it can be controlled by voice commands, making it a great alternative for those who aren't keen on using an app. It comes with an impressive LCD display on its base station that is helpful for those who don't want to use your phone. It doesn't have an automatic dust bin like most robot vacuums. You'll need to empty it manually. It is also not as light as other robot vacuums, meaning it could be a bit heavier to move around your home.
